Jean Varon London

I am very interested in vintage fasion and have been for many years. it started when i was about 18 years old, over 30 years ago in the days you could go to a jumble sale and pick up wonderful 50's dresses for a couple of pence. Those days are sadly gone, unfortunately along with all the dresses I collected. Due to my mother moving to Spain and giving them to a local charity shop. As she did,nt like me wearing 2nd hand clothes. little did she know that these things, which I loved would latter become highly sort after. Now my own daughter following in mums footsteps loves vintage. But I am always suspect when i walk into Vintage shops that advertise something as vintage when it is clearly a mid 1980's copy of a 50's dress. However i digress. I have a 60's or 70's Dusky pink long chiffon dress by Jean Varon of london can anyone tell me about Jean varon designs.. thankyou

That is a real pretty one. We actually don't have this label in our resource with the "London" under the name.
Have you had a chance to read what we have in the label resource about the Jean Varon label, there is some very good information there!

Interesting read - I wasn't familiar with this designer.

I date this dress to the early 1970s.

I have looked at it and it is very interesting, i was hoping to see some images of, " jean varon "london gowns. I love to compare.I actually bought this one from a little shop in canterbury for my
daughter who is yet to wear it.

Your pic is too small to see but a friend posted this clip of Ella Fitzgerald on my Facebook and she's wearing a similar dress in 1968 so I'll amend my dating to late '60s (which reminds me that I had a similar dress recently and that was definitely late '60s too.

I have a couple of Varon's on in my shop but they don't look anything like yours. I would agree with 60s or very early 70s on yours.

I have this one, which is very different. When I was researching him, I didn't find any others like tis, so I think yours was more typical. I am guessing this one is 70's.

Yes, that looks like an early '70s ethnic/bohemian inspired dress.
