jewelry question

I have seen this brooch on an online store described as an "Alfred Philippe". Marked "ster. P.C." but no other marks. No Trifari or pat. Question is did he make his own line before joining Trifari? What era? This is stunning for a sterling gold overlay piece. I cannot find much information. Thanks for your attention.

I own a lot of 1930's-1950's Trifari pieces mostly designed by Alfred Philippe and this piece does not look like his work to me. I am not familiar with the mark "ster. p.c." The piece looks like it is late 1950's - 1960's. I believe that Alfred Philippe worked for Trifari from the 1930's until he retired in 1968. There are 1930s and 1940s unsigned Trifari and a few later pieces but it is unusual find 1950's Trifari that is not signed. I'm not sure when it began but from the late 1940's Trifari's print ads all said it's not Trifari if it isn't stamped Trifari on the back - or something close to that. This ad is from 1949. (See the lower right corner.)

Thanks so much for the reply. I found several of these types by several different makers but none with this particular mark where someone can definitively name the maker. I found other brooches googling "tree of life". Guess I will keep scouring the net :)

This pretty brooch has the look of the "Mother's" jewelry that became so popular a few years back.....pieces included stones which represented the Birthstones of children and sometimes the parents, too! The Tree of Life was often used for brooches for this style of jewelry and they were sometimes made from sterling plated with gold. I'm not sure about this particular one, but it does put me in mind of this type of jewelry. Does not look like Alfred Philippe pieces that I have seen and own.
