At the risk of wearing you out, I wanted to post a couple more we had questions about, in case it would be easiest to give input on multiple all at once
I do not have guesses on this one :( So I hope you all have the ability to assess it

I believe it is nutria but not 100% sure from the pictures

This looks very much like horizontally let out nutria, however. it looks like it's either been plucked or sheared. It may not be and it's just the way I see that one photo. If you show a photo of the back we may or may not be able to tell with more certainty. Like I said on the others, you can tell moreso when you see some pics from others.

Very helpful! I think the horizontal letting was esp confusing for me, and I can definitely see the nutria resemblance when you point it out.
I had the same question about partly sheared, because the tips on the guard hairs in multiple pictures seemed blunted, which was part of what left me feeling lost trying to ID it. (Without the full hairs I wasn't sure how to tell the type of fur certainly.) Searching pictures of sheared nutria fur after your comments was very helpful for comparison & confirmation!
