I have just bought this dress and can't trace the label anywhere and not sure how old it is....? Can anyone help, please?

The label reads: "Julie Vernon Haute Couture". The label is clean and white and not sewn on very beautifully.

However the dress is beautifully made, with unfinished seams on the inside. It is a pale duck egg blue 50s style, not sure if vintage or not but I have seen this fabric on vintage dresses but this one looks in great condition.

Row of tiny matching fabric-covered buttons fastens the whole bodice into the collar at the back and also the sleeve cuffs.

The bustle bow at the back is fastened with press studs

Fully lined
Skirt padded out with netting

Thanks for listening and hope someone can help?

Hi, I don't know the label but I would say your dress is a 1980's cocktail/evening dress. This style is very typical - the fitted bodice with full skirt, buttonned back and big bow on the bum. :)

Just looking at the way the label is stitched on, wondering if this could have been a home sewn project by a girl called Julie Vernon. I looked and couldn't find anything on her so she likely wasn't a HC designer and like Liza, believe this is possibly 80s does 50s but we'd need to see the interior to help confirm dating.

I'll get a picture of interior up ASAP. Thanks Running Dog

I might be able to help. I had my wedding dress made by a small independent dress maker. Her trade name was Julie Vernon. She had a small shop in Godalming in Surrey in the mid 1980's. She advertised in the bridal magazines of the time to make a dress to your unique design from any sketch. Hope it helps!

Wow! Thanks for this. I only just got this message and very helpful too...Amazing to know and your help is appreciated. :) xxxxxxxxx

Thanks alot :) Definitely more like a bridesmaid dress though... I thought it was quite strange as a cocktail dress, even for the 80s...
