Just for Fun - Help Identify this Bird :)

This is the border of a really cute/interesting maxi I picked up. My husband and I have been "arguing" over what kind of bird we think this is and also what the white row in the middle consists of. Of course - this is sort of just for fun and also, I like to be right!

I wont tell you what we have guessed so as not to taint the process. I can only tell you that I am most definetely correct!

So thoughts?

The white row consists of cactus plants.

And the red birds look like the noisy ones, in my yard!

Looks like cardinals or bluejays to me.

We don't have a whole lot of cardinals in the desert. I think it's some kind of desert bird.

I was thinking it was a rather poor representation of a roadrunner...really poor actually. That made sense to me with the cacti.

They look like the titmouse in shape. But that makes no sense with cacti.

That's funny, I thought it might be an oddball representation of a roadrunner too! A short, fat variety.

I'd like to say Willy Wagtails but then wikipedia has told me that they're native to this part of the world so I guess that makes it unlikely. They do look like them though!

lookd like a cardinal to me as well,,,,, however when I looked up desert birds I was quite impressed with the Phainopepla bird.... tail, beak length and head feathers are strikingly similar to the design.

I an useless on birds and no idea how the pattern been repeated in a rows and circles reminds me of a Egyptian theme

That is definitely a road runner.

My first thought was a Blue Jay. Second row reminds me of Prickly Pear and Saguaro cactus but in a stylized way of sorts.
