Just like having a baby....

Well, here is the story.

I am getting a mannequin. I have the male dress form and the half girl, but for somethings, they just don't cut it.

It/She is not even HERE yet and I have already bought things for her! She owns a crinoline that I bought from one of our very own in the last few days (thanks Gail aka gaildavid!) (and I might add that I haven't even gotten around to buying one for myself first). I might take a pair of slippers out of stock for her use. I even have this cool belt in my closet I am saying..."oh cool, its small enough to fit her too to model this particular dress?"

What is this ?!?! A latent desire that I had to share clothes with an older/younger sister? (i have a younger sister but she is a decade younger so we really didn't do much of that). I am not really a doll person so its not that. Am I turning into Miss Havisham? Maybe so.

I guess I am about to join the ranks of some of you who refer to your mannequins as having their own posessions like hats. I am going to be one of THOSE people...AAUUUGGHH!!

:)

Chris

Well congratulations Chris I can't wait to see her when she arrives.

I have gone to the dollar store and bought hair acessories and glasses and sunglasses. Scarves, belts wigs hats In fact she has more than I do. I have taken clothes to pin behind her. She has her own jewelry case. She even has some thigh high nylons!!

Its like a big barbie doll!!!

Solena has her own jewelry box?!?!

My half girl and my male dress form (if that is what i can call it?) will still be in use for some things. I am so glad that I opted for the male instead of female dress dummy because I have been getting more and more menswear and it is good for plus sized ladies coats too. But on larger curvy dresses, no matter how I thought I would just put a bra on it and use it for that, it does not look very good.

I am getting the second butcher block table out of the office today if I can help it so I have plenty of room for her when she gets here. There is room, but just so she is not in danger of being knocked over.

I certainly will take photos as soon as she gets here and I set her up.

I just got some new stuff in, but am waiting to photo them at that time.

Well, you know you got it bad when...!

I used to LOVE playing with Barbie dolls! My daughter had no time for dolls but liked beany babies. Now she's outgrown the beany babies but the dog likes them

Well, you do realize you have to name her, don't you?

I have decided that my new manni shall remain bald!! I think she looks cool like that. So in honor of her baldness I named her B.B., which is short for Bald Betty!! hahahahahaha!!

B.B. rocks!! :P

Yeah, I guess you are right. I know....I'll have to have a name the manni contest at my store! That's it!!

I have decided that my new manni shall remain bald!!

She must be one bold lady! I saw a hairstyle show once where hair stylists had to come up what they thought the styles in the new millenium would be (i think this was in the late 80s/early 90s) and one thought that everyone would shave their heads and have an identification tattoo and tribal markings on their head. Maybe she watched that show.

Bald babes was all the rage out where I work last summer. I do the accounting for a non-profit land conservation organization 3 days a week. We are located in the Historic Marshall Gold Discovery Park in Coloma, California (across from Sutter's Mill no less!). The town of Coloma is a river rafters paradise and most of the summer crowd work for the river rafting outfitters (on the American River). I can't tell you how many of the young girls did the bald or nearly bald thing last summer.

And you know what? They looked absolutely adorable! So in honor of their bravery, I decided Bald Betty should be one of them!

Well I can guarantee that trend will never "catch on" here. People would come up to you and tell you they are so sorry for your illness. BTW Love the website. We have conservation groups to so that people keep the manatees in our river in mind....as well as the commorants...and don't forget a gator or two now and then :)

BTW, My manni has not yet arrived, but her HAIR just came today!!

I am a little too excited about it I think

Talking of mannies - can anyone remember that site that does decade heads - now that I am doing vintage fairs I need a head for hats.
