Just wondering.. How many of you wear vintage clothing

I was discussing this with my friend the other week when she was checking out my inventory and wanted every 50s cotton dress.
So, how many of you WEAR your vintage clothing/accessories or do you just sell or collect it?

I tend to only wear my 40s gowns if and when I have a black tie event. I do carry my vintage bags though more frequently. But I resolve to wear more daywear.

Any others?

I don't have much vintage anymore after a major life change. But I do have a pair of screaming lime green platform wedges that I wear for fun once in awhile... I also tend to gravitate towards vintage at the consignment shops..

:hiya: Hi Chris, how are you? Good to hear from you! :clapping:

I wear vintage routinely. Usually a skirt, handbag, housedresses. Almost all of my coats and jackets and sweaters.

I wear vintage everyday! Yes, people do stare. Mostly 40's & 50's dresses, and always gloves. Although I do admit to wearing my contemporary mary janes when I'm too lazy to wear vintage heels! :embaressed:

I wear vintage most days, as often as possible. I'm only a newbie seller though. Right now, just in from my day job, I'm wearing a 50s cotton shirtdress. I like finding nice day wear that's not too over the top, expressly so I can wear vintage every day. I wear vintage jackets, coats and dresses. I also have 1950s spectacles fitted to my own prescription. And handbags, almost always vintage, even if nothing else is.

I can't ever wear vintage shoes though *sigh* my feet are far too big.

And for evening events, always vintage, I have so many gorgeous evening dresses, far more than I need, so I wear them if I have the slightest excuse.

Hardly a day goes by when I don't incorporate vintage into my wardrobe. Even while cleaning my house..... I love to wear 50s and 60s cotton blouses. They are really comfy and cute. I'm a brooch gal so the only time I don't have a pin on is when I'm in my PJs which BTW are often vintage. I love vintage sweaters too and wear them all the time and most of my shoes, from my late 40s - early 50s high heels to my 1960s tennis shoes are vintage. My one rule is that less is more. I never do head to toe vintage from one era however I do mix up the eras so often I'm in mostly vintage but with contrasting styles. For example.... 70s high waisted jeans with any number of vintage jackets, sweaters or blouses. Vintage handbags are my weakness and I could easily use a different one each day but that can get confusing,..now WHICH handbag has the drivers liscence?! So for everyday use I stick to a 1980s cherry red leather sack.

Every dressy coat I own is vintage although I do own a new-ish down filled Woolrich jacket in black that is my winter staple. nothing like down to keep you warm. 80% of the dresses in my closet are vintage. Come to think of it 80% of my wardrobe is vintage :) Yup I do wear vintage:)

I would, but I can't.
I don't think size 30 existed then.
So I wear "vintage" look blouses when I find them, replace new buttons with vintage, carry vintage purses, wear clip on earrings and use vintage scarves.
I would wear vintage shoes, but I have the widest feet in the world, i can hardly find new shoes to wear. I've got a couple of vintage nightgowns from the 60's and 70's. I have found a few caftans that would fit, but the fabric was...ugh...heavy, hot polyester.

I also will admit that I am addicted to cotton knit and cotton/spandex and would be really picky about the fabrics. Comfort is my number one, I've never been willing to be a martyr for fashion...no painful high heels for me.

I guess 100% soft cotton and the cool rayons would be my fabric choices.
If I could wear vintage I would wear early Swirls and 40's dresses with big shoulders and 50's shirtwaist dresses and lots of separates.

I've never been much of a dress wearer in my adult life, and vintage dresses tend not to fit me. But with that said, I have been a wearer of vintage ever since I had money for my own clothing. What I wear tends to be accessories and jewelry, with vintage cashmere sweaters and coats in the fall, and vintage shoes when I can find comfortable non-pumps in my size. My closet used to be full of vintage, some things I'd collected long ago and was still wearing until my Great Flaming Purge of '08. Now I have the opportunity to start again to build a well-considered collection.

Having a mens 40's suit altered into a outfit for fall for me... I mix and match every dy. But its been so long since I have bought something new my new stuff is now vintage.

I wear vintage a lot, but not all the time, but I wear everything that I own and buy pieces to wear. I do not have any vintage shoes but I try to wear shoes that look like the correct style with what I am wearing. (Feet are toooooo big.) When I wear vintage dresses, skirt , suits, gowns, etc., I try to stay as accurate to the period as possible with the correct jewelry, handbags, etc. I wear vintage jewelry every day - even with shorts and tee shirts.

Since I live in Hawaii, much of the time my daytime attire is shorts and a tee shirt or tank tops, or Capri's and a v-neck tee shirt. I wear rings - mostly vintage - bracelets and earrings. I usually only wear brooches (or necklaces) when I am more dressed up - and wearing something that will support a brooch. Some of my vintage clothes are "seasonal" in that they are too heavy or too wintery to be worn except in cooler weather. I try not to buy pieces that I cannot wear at least some of the time here. Whenever I have a meeting or occasion my first thought is what vintage dress or outfit can I wear?? I'm going to a concert this weekend and have already planned on wearing a late '40's dress.

My every day handbag is "not" vintage, but I change it most of the time when I wear vintage.

I know that feeling... so I made myself a rule, never to put a handbag away without emptying it completely and checking the pockets. So I now can use a different bag with every outfit, and know that only the one or two that I haven't put back in the cupboard yet could be the ones with my keys in. It works most of the time!

I wear vintage coats and jackets always, have a number of 49ers. Don't wear vintage sweaters too much because I prefer a loose, comfy fit. Vintage scarves, costume jewelry (have a ton of Bakelite bangles and whimsical pins) and I also almost always have at least one -- sometimes half a dozen -- unusual vintage pinback buttons on my jackets. "Harmony Band" with musical notes; "I support parks and boulevards"; "We never guess, we look it up"; and "Support your local hospital -- You'll need it" are among my faves.

Have a couple full skirts but have a hard time finding rayon or cotton blouses that fit. Sold a number of fab vintage dresses I used to wear, but they were starting to look too youngish for me. And I don't wear any vintage shoes, can't handle the discomfort, although I think they look great on women who wear them well.

i am another who uses vintage bags alot, coats, jackets, sweaters and jewelry. dresses occasionally, but that's only because jeans or cut-offs are now my everyday wear here in the country. wear vintage gloves in the fall and winter. shoes when i can, but i too have very wide feet, so end up LOOKING at my lovely vintage shoes rather than wearing them so much anymore.

i also USED to have nearly all vintage in my closets, but have less so, anymore. I, too, never wear vintage head to toe.

i do a lot of outdoor work, and construction work so i tend to wear crappy t-shirts most of my days, but when we DO go out, i do like to wear/carry SOMETHING vintage always.

I try to wear vintage as often as possible! Since I work mostly at home in jeans and t-shirts, I don't wear it every day. But all my winter coats except for one are vintage, and my fave is the first vintage piece of apparel I ever purchased--a 1950's black cashmere coat that is still simply wonderful--some 20 years after I bought it. And I have a darling green cashmere "shortie" winter jacket with faux cheetah collar that I wear, too. (My ski jackets are modern; haven't found a vintage one in my size...)

Most of my purses and handbags are vintage--I like 70s & 80s shoulder bags for everyday use (just bought a late 70's Etienne Aigner white leather shoulder bag in NOS condition for summer, and I LOVE it). I sometimes carry a small vintage handbag for dressy occasions, which, alas, are too few in frequency for my taste.

I have a few pair of vintage shoes I plan on keeping to wear, but haven't tried them on since I had foot surgery a while ago. So, I don't know if any fit.... Unfortunately, I can't wear the gorgeous vintage 50's & 60's heels that I covet, but can wear the chunky mod heels and low heels.

And I wear a lot of vintage jewelry; almost all my necklaces are vintage. I don't often wear brooches, but when I do they are always vintage--I don't own a new one! I always get a lot of compliments on my necklaces and brooches when I wear them. I have a few vintage rings. The only thing I don't generally wear in vintage are earrings.
