i LOVE this, and immediately thought of Karin when it came across my facebook feed this morning, posted by Detroit Fashion Collective, sharing Mara Damiani's photo:

the caption (loosely) translates to:

Thanks so much, this is great!!! And it looks so realistic! I had a small display with a dressmaker's atelier some years ago, but mine was a bit more chaotic - and these gals had quite a penchant for any unhealthy food there is :hysterical:.

Carrie, that's at least half the fun of collecting for me... I have a few more on my blog from when I last redid them. And I've spent years looking for teenie-weenie accessories that are Barbie doll's size and that look realistic. The fax machine in my display above is actually a fridge magnet, there are some dolls house accessories etc. Instead of the designer's atelier I currently have a bridal salon - a neat way to display oodles of Barbie wedding dresses :). I also have... a cocktail party with James Bond, a bedroom (all girls in pajamas), a perennial christmas party, a street scene, behind the scenes at a talent show, at the opera house... whatever comes to my mind. My displays are not for eternity though - every now and then I change them, or I change small things every now and then. And I have a lot of non-Barbie dolls in there as well. More fun and variety!
