Hi,

Anyone here from the Denver Colorado area? I am seeking information on a high end milliner hat maker named Kate Ferretti who had a shop there in the 1940's, 1950's and... ????

Any help with my research is most appreciated.

Well, this won't help much, but in 1970 quite a few papers around the country picked up and ran this little AP insert -

DENVER (AP) — Mrs. Kate
Ferretti, a Denver milliner for
almost 40 years, says the de-
mand for women's hats is so
low that she designed a collec-
tion of only 50 this Easter sea-
son, compared to hundreds in former years.

Amanda,

Thank you that helps a lot, as it tells how long she was in business. Of the few of her hats I have collected over the years, they are quite unusual and striking. She had a lot of flair in her designs and fabulous workmanship and materials.

Barbara, my husband of nearly 39 years, is the grandson of Denver's Kate ferretti. Do you know that Kate had Denver's very first set of triplets? Jack, Joe and Joan. My mother in law was the oldest of Kate's five children. She also had another daughter Virginia. My mother in law was Anne Louise. Kate was also an artist, I can send a pix of her water color she named The I Italian Girl that we own, there are others owned by other relatives. We have hats, hat boxes hangers, designer clothes they bought in Paris and Rome, some with tags still on them from when they closed the shop in North Denver in the early seventies. We have boxes of old newspapers, some with adds for the hat shop, but mostly about her triplets as they grew. She was a true Denver's who's who. I have always intended to write a book..She was truly an amazing and wonderful person.. We have so much info about her. Karen P

Barbara, it would be great if you my husband chris and could get together by mail or phone, would be good. Do you have any idea how we could get into contact with you about Kate? Did you know her favorite color was pink?

Karen and Barbara -

Either of you can start a PM "Conversation" by clicking on the other's Avatar, and then clicking on "Start a Conversation." You can exchange private contact information that way.

It's wonderful that you have "met" through the VFG Public Forum and we hope that now you have met, you will exchange lots of information about Kate Ferretti.
