Key Words for this Cute 40's XXL Dress

Key Words for this Cute 40\'s XXL Dress

:hiya: it's me again!
Key words are desperately needed for this cute xxl sized rayon dress that has a 46 inch bust and 40 inch waist! Whoo!

The color is a celery green, what do you see? And what should I call that bust decoration?, it has beautiful sparkly clear prong set rhinestones set in the satin buttons.
Ummmm, lets see what else, darted empire waist bodice, belt loops but missing the belt, and puffy hip pockets! Ribbon hem binding. 2 inch wide hem, WWII?

It also has a *center middle* metal back zipper.

No label other than a union tag I found on an inside seam.
Of course I thank you in advance, Tori

Sorry for all the pic's.

My own KW on this are "I wish it were mine!" I'd use "asymmetrical" or "cross-over" bow bodice--in title or subtitle. And is this a jacquard or brocade? That would be good also. I find if I put "Plus size" in the title, as well as the actual sizing--XL/XXL, etc., I get far more hits than if I just put the XXL in there. I love this dress, and I'd go for the gallery/subtitle/LD "value" package on it.

Oh, wow, that looks so cool and comfortable....cool as a cucumber..:)

I believe it is 40s and it wouldn't hurt to put wartime or WWII, however, I think a movie I was looking at this morning filmed in 1949 had a dress similar.

I am going to have to think what that rhinestone thingy is called.

Sure does look 40's, doesn't it?

It really is an awesome dress but not great enough to warrant featuring it.

The dress has a light celery green background with a tiny white floral print.

I asked about it on the VC&A and they say according to the union label it is post 1955.. One person even said 60's! I say no way....

I did a burn test and it comes out rayon/cotton, it does have a silky feel to it but is not damask, jacquard or brocade.

Here are some pictures of the union label...

Hey Tori! I believe the AFL-CIO merged in 1955, so that would be correct that this would be 1955 or later....sorry:kiss2:

But I agree that the style definately looks 40's to me!

It looks later to me than '40s, I probably would have guessed mid or late '50s. The bust treatment doesn't look '40s to me...that cockeyed bow and the buttons look late '50s to me. The hip pockets are more '50s, too, I think.

BTW, the color looks almost khaki on my monitor.

FWIW....

Thanks Gals, I had already determined it wasn't 40's and was just commenting that it sure did look it though, to me anyway. One other poster (VC&A) said it was 1960's and that's where I disagree.

Anyway, I took new photos to show a better silhouette and color but haven't looked at them yet, hopefully the color will show better. I'll repost them tomorrow… Tori
