Kudos to the VFG Fabric Resourse - tarlatan?

I'm working on a 30s evening dress - it's a sweet one.

The cape/collar is net, and probably a later addition to the dress. I thought of the semi sheer skirt and outer bodice as net too, although the little openings are not hexagonal, but square. It feels crisp, and has an all over pattern of glittered polka dots, with most of the glitter now departed.

I worked my way through the our Fabric Resource, starting with net - no because not hexagonal. When I backed up and started with "mesh", I landed on tarlatan - I think I have seen this fabric before, but the word is new to me.

Double checking with our fabric gurus here - tarlatan? And "stiffened with glaze" - I wouldn't risk washing with those glitter dots, but am I correct in thinking the glaze would dissipate in water and leave it limp?

It looks similar to tarlatan, which milliners once sometimes used (and still do) to add to a hat's foundation and adding structure to a lining. Dressmakers too of course. The net openings on your dress seem a little bit larger (looser?) than tarlatan to me, but it does appear very very similar. The photo of talatan in the VFG Resource is, I think (?) an extreme close up taken under a strong magnifier.

I have some old tarlatan (black) around here somewhere and will try to dig it out from my stash. Lets see what others think.

A wonderful dress!
