La Mendola.. what do we know of him/her/it?

I have been doing a bit of research on the label La Mendola.
This dress is labeled so as well as a Simpsons St Regis "The Room" label which through a bit of researching I have found was/is a high end department store originating in Canada. "The room" is much like the "special" rooms in Saks and Fredericks & Nelson.. only the highend things are displayed and bought there..
Anyway, I have found references to and comparisons to Bessi, Pucci and Leonard but I have yet to find any solid information on this label, I do not even know if it is a person or not!
It does seem to be very pucciesque and all items I have seen other people offering have been the same silk jersey knit and chiffon that my dress is comprised of.

I would love to educate my buyers but will be unable to do so without educating myself!

Michelle, I did a vivisimo search and came up pretty empty. A couple of other 70s dresses on sites, but no info on the label.

Great sleeves and skirt on this!
