I have a fur coat that and the fur is one the inside. The outside is the leather or atleast the pelt the hair grew from I think.. Anyhow the tag is leather and the backside looks as if it has been fur has been shaved. The lable says SPE with an accent over the "E" and beneath that in small print it say SPE Romano. There is another tag lower in the jacket on the inside and the writing is all foreign.. not japanese but similarish characters..

I am trying to find out the type of fur, and a little more about the company that made it. I have photos and I must admit, I've worn the crap out of this coat. It is SO warm! I like it very much and have never had a coat like it. I do not know how to care for it though. From what I've read thus far about fur coats.. I haven't done the best job with it. Is there an oil I should put on the skin/leather part which is the outside.. the inside is all fur sleeves and all! I've noticed in places the outside looks a little dry and lighter in color. I'm sure the fur is tremendously yellowed... I've only had it a year.. But it was very much a used coat when I received it. I would just like some general info.. To be honest for all I know it could be faux.. I don't think it is.. but anything is possible.

I AGREE W/ Ruth , maybe the coat was imported to Asia . Tip : if it is faux fur you can brush it w/ a stiff hairbrush-short quick strokes to detangle and clean it .

Hi there, I have looked at all of your pictures. I agree with Ruth. It does look like sheepskin. I looked at the seam on the collar edge though and it looks like there is threading through the fur. I don't know why that threading is there. You can test the fur to see if it is real by doing a burn test. Pull a few of those furs out and burn them. If the fibers burn fast and smell like hair it's real. If not, it will melt and smell like plastic.
