Lace Bedjacket 30\'s? 40\'s? Date Help please

I found this sweetie last week. Nylon lace, silk trim, mother of pearl button, angel sleeves. I get a late 30's vibe... you?

Here's some nylon history

http://nylonhistory.org/

1939 it was intro'd at the World's Fair - exhibit nylon stockings. Women LOVED. Went to sale general public May 1940.

Fast forward to Dec. 1941. Japan bombs Pearl Harbor, pulling US involvement into WWII. Nylon went to war effort - parachutes, tents, etc. That means nylon anything was scarce in America until the end of the war (Sept. 45)

From 1939 to Dec. 1941, the majority of nylon sales were stockings.

I'd also date your bed jacket to post war.

As Nat King Cole crooned in "If You Can't Smile and Say Yes" in 1946, "Baby, let's let bygones be bygones, 'cause men are scarce as nylons ..."

Are you sure this isn't what is known as ecru cotton lace because that's what it looks like? This can feel stretchy. This bed jacket is probably from the mid 1930's.

I think this might be cotton lace, too. I have a dress made of very similar lace, including the color, which is late 30s or early 40s. It has stretch to it, but it's not nylon. Your bed jacket lace seems to have more "body" than most nylon laces....

I've gone through my fabrics over here and believe y'all are right, cotton lace, it is plumper and more flexible than the nylon pieces I have. (i'll test it later) :sunshine: So taking my complete lack of lace recognition into consideration

where am I on the dating if this is indeed cotton?
