Lanvin Dress - is this late 60\'s/early 70\'s?

Stretchy Poly, plastic Lanvin buttons - how would you describe this pattern - mod, graphic, ??? And does the belt that I used look okay? I didn't have anything white and I believe it would have come with a matching fabric belt.

modern geometric graphic. early 70s or maybe very late 60s.

and even though the belt isn't matchy matchy it shows how great the dress looks when belted

It is marked a size 16 but is about a size 8. You wouldn't want it tight but not too loose either. 39 inch bust, 38 waist, 42 hips. I pinned the dress so there was about 3 inches of give at the bust, about 6 at the waist, and 3 on the hips of my manni.

I would do a title something like this:

I personally don't think that belt works with it. Its a little too boho-ish for such a mod-ish dress (okay, too many ish's but you get my point :D) . I would do a solid color wide patent belt. If you don't have anything in the colors in the dress, I would use black.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot, I do think this is a cusper so you could do 60s/70s in the title and be just fine.

I bet that dress originally had a thin rolled tie belt in the same fabric.

Did Lanvin do a completely different sizing than everyone else in the early 70's? Because my first guess would be early 70's, but that size difference makes me think it's before the size change-over in... 1968? Is that right?

I think that Lanvin must have done these shirt dresses for a while. I had another one, with long sleeves, a slightly different label and slightly different collar. The material on that dress was a non stretch poly crepe and it was 70's.

Oh.. and the sizing was closer than this was. I think it was marked a 14 and was more like a 10

I got another Biba'ish dress with this one and I'm pretty sure that is late 60's/early 70's. When it dries I'll put a pic up.. it has cats all over it and a million buttons down the front.

I would like the dress better with either a white belt or a color that matches one of the colors in the pattern. I think the black is still too distracting and your eye goes to it - rather than the dress.

Wouldn't the care label date the dress to post 1971. Were there care labels in earlier garments? I've seen reference to care in some of the '50's and '60's "Everyday Fashions" booklets but don't own any garments that I know are earlier than 1970 that have any.

I think this is early 70s--the print, the collar, etc., all seem into the early 70s and out of the 60s. Love the print! I have a Lanvin downstairs (not as cute) about the same era--I'll check to see how the sizing compares. But I'd be surprised if this wasn't around 1971 to '73.
