Lanvin Fabric - Is it vintage??

I picked this piece of fabric up at an estate sale yesterday. I believe it is rayon acetate. It has some fading and some holes along one fold line. I haven't measured it yet. I'm guessing it was made to line a jacket or other homesewn garment. My first thought was that it was 70s but I really have no idea. Any thoughts??

Rayon and acetate are two different fibers. If you burn the fabric, it will burn differently. Acetate bubbles and sputters.

Rayon fades badly with exposure to light. Quite honestly, I don't know about acetate.

Someone with a better knowledge of menswear might know if Lanvin had a menswear division in the 70s. If so, my guess is this is a lining fabric for a jacket.

I would think it to be lining fabric, of acetate.

There is however, a fabric known as rayon acetate, I believe:

"The fourth type, saponified acetate rayon, originated in England in 1918, is an acetate derivative of cellulose made by steeping cellulose in acetic acid, then treating it with acetic anhydride. Acetate rayon is more resistant to stains and creasing, is plasticized by heat, and requires special dyes, thus allowing two-tone effects with a single dye when acetate is combined with other fibers."

back in the late 70s/early 80s i was doing quite a bit of custom sewing; designer logo lining fabric was particularly popular at that time, i recall making a dark navy blue suit with Christian Dior lining; got it from a local (Honolulu) fabric shop; they carried all kinds of different ones.

i assume it was all knock off stuff from the Orient, but it sold like crazy out there anyway.
