Large embroidered gown

Good Day to all... I've been trying on my own to figure out what this gown is called. Has one pocket on left chest, sleeves are embroidered, center is embroidered, thin material feels like semi stiff cotton. Any ideas about this one.

Hi Billy, you seem to have found a lot of Eastern clothing. There are some excellent books available that might help you.

I specialise in Western fashion so to me, it just looks like an elaborate caftan that someone brought home after their exotic holiday. Hopefully someone else will be more helpful.

Hi Nicole, yes I found them all at a local thrift store in the Halloween clothing section, $2 each. So you have a new book coming out huh, very exciting I'm sure, congratulations...

You may find something helpful here, perhaps a women's thawb. I think this can also be called a kameez.

Thank You Hollis, this information puts me at ease. I wonder if you know what my other 2 similar outfits are called, the long garments that wrap under your legs then goes up to chest.
