Thank you all for your replies, I appreciate it.

Here is another hat I am confused by. When I purchased it, it was amongst a lot of casual vintage hats with no box. This hat was in a schiaparelli round hot pink hat box.

I was really disappointed to see it had no label. :flaming:
I assume if it were a schiaparelli, it would have a label for sure?

Still, I think it's a beautiful hat and I'd love to know when it is from and how to describe it. I keep thinking it looks like a clam shell..lol??? :help:

Maybe I'll describe it as a scalloped? Once again, I haven't taken the inside picture yet. I'm on it.

Hi,

I like what you said...call it a red velvet clamshell, or scalloped clamshell. Vintage is mid 1950s. The box is an original Schiaparelli and they sell well by themselves so the box is a great find. I doubt anyone in their right mind would remove the label from this, but anything is possible. Hat and boxes often get mixed and matched thru the years, and I share your disappointment when you see a designer box and the hat inside has no label.

Still it is a red velvet hat, people love those, and the box can be worth more than the hat sometimes.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have more hats.
