Hello!
I found this blouse and everything about it screams to me late Edwardian ( 19-teens) I had a late Edwardian dressing gown with almost the exact crochet and construction. What do you all think...I would love the help

Cheers!

Hi, First off, this is not my area of expertise however, I notice the fabric seems like a heavy cotton gauze, I see a dropped shoulder or very low sleeve seam and a heavy cotton cord at the waist that looks new. Somehow this looks modern to me but again, we need to hear from other members since my gut feeling is this is not as old as that. Is this machine sewn? Maybe the cord and blue tie are replaced? What is the blue tie made of? Also, how is the casing done for the waist cord tie? Sorry I am not much help since I could be wrong!

I wonder if it was a nightgown that was turned into a blouse in the 30's/40's. Can you compare the waist and sleeve hems?

I think Jonathan's got this one right: it's an upcycled earlier piece. The unusual sleeves look like someone may have lengthened them using fabric from the skirt, and added the crochet trim. My guess is that originally it was a short sleeved nightgown.
