Hi guys
Wondering if LA is very collectable yet?

I "think" these are late 70's early 80's but thought I would check to see what you all thought?
I did check the labels and was confused since on has Made in US.

As an aside I would have KILLED for a Laura Ashley wedding dress when I got married in 83'.
I wanted one of those pretty cotton wedding dresses so badly.....

If memory serves correctly, the very first Laura Ashley's wre made in Wales. Daniel/mabverick could confirm if you emailed him.

Yes, Laura Ashley had 10 factories in Wales I believe and one in Ireland to produce the clothing range. They planned to manufacture in the US but I can't find any reference - as yet so I'm also curious about the label.

The blouse is a classic and the blue printed design on the dress is very typical of the simple floral designs that were produced. The pin-tucked detailed cotton blouses were labour intensive to make because one person made the whole garment. Slow and costly but very well made. This process of manufacture changed in the 80's.

I think the classic Laura Ashley designs and prints are collectable.

Well I guess I'm curious now too.

Thanks for the information.....

Yes, I would hope that blouse would fly. Romantic Puffy Sleeve Victorian etc. If it's S XS that's a plus :drinking2: It's really lovely. I actually sold some Wales Laura Ashley to Daniel way back. I had purchased them in London in the early 1970's.

They manufactured in Canada and Holland in the early Seventies (as in, I've seen those on labels - but they're awfully rare) and later on they did manufacture in the USA (as in, I've seen that too....more commonly so I don't think there's any question of it).

The second dress is the earlier piece, with the Dyers and Printers label. But the blouse is probably more desirable at the moment!
