Lei - your grandparents house now!

Hi Lei,

Finally, I took the ten steps (okay, 20...) and photographed your grandparents' renovated home. Here are views of the entrance on Wellington, then Bourgois (pronounced burrgis, for true anglo Pointers) and a pic of the new condos that face the front of the Wellington front door.

Looks like the pole on Bourgois is going to keel over...

NO WAY! That looks nothing like the house I lived in although it DOES look alot nicer!
I see the spiral stairs are still there, my dad made me a wooden swing when I was 2 which he hung on those stairs and me and my sis used to sit on them and have "pic nics".
I'm glad they kept the big tree in the backyard, we used to try and climb up it when we were kids too.
I wonder if they redid the basement too? It was horrible and spooky and had a dirt floor. It always smelled musty down there and there were weird wooden corridors and a big pile of dirt in the corner of the main basement room.
My grandparents lived upstairs and we lived downstairs until I was 5, then my aunt and uncle moved in for a while. My room was the window just left to the boureouis street door.

I wonder when those condos were built? That was still an empty lot when my grandparents moved out in 1987. My mum remembers when the old church burned down in 1975/1976 (I was a baby). The front windows got red hot and my whole family thought the house was going to go up as the flames from the old church were intense.

May I save those photos and use them on my google webspace website that I plan on making on my grandparents house? I will credit you with the photos :)

That's so cool - I will always think of you when I pass by now...

Matchbox condo project started late last year and was occupied by early summer, until then it was a nice big empty green space that was used by a Korean christian congregation that had their church on Charon - they had great yard sales once a year. I had heard there used to be a big church there.

The photos are yours, Lei. Enjoy!
