Leshgold Dress possibly 1960s?

Hi again,

I picked up this lovely piece recently but I've been unable to find much information about the brand, Leshgold London.
I'll attach a few photos. The opening panel with the bow is the back hiding the zipper.
The zipper itself is a metal coated blue Lightning zipper. It appears to have the original hardware attached.
I've attached a photo of the hem, lining and the finishing on the armholes too.
There is no care label or fibre label, only the brand label pictured.
It's quite a heavy dress, really well made! Unfortunately it doesn't fit me.

Does anyone know the brand Leshgold? Or any guesses on the fabric or date?

Many thanks,
Fran

I've never come across Leshgold, and I lived in London for decades.

The fabric appears to be a polyester doubleknit, not unlike Crimplene.

Agree with 60s - later half of the decade.

it does look very nicely made.

It's a mystery! The only information I can find online is a handful of dresses for sale. Nothing concrete about the actual brand/maker which is a shame.
Thank you, I'll take a look.

I agree the dress definitely looks 60s.

Doing a quick search, I can find a few mentions of Leshgold of London from a few Scottish newspapers and one from the Liverpool Daily Post. The earliest I saw was from 1972 and the latest from 1988. I will look for earlier mentions but here is what I found so far.
It looks like the brand was sold at various boutiques. One example from 1988 was some place called Sequel located on Alloway Street (no mention of the town) but the newspaper was the Ayrshire Post so maybe Ayr?)

Another mention from 1972 was this

Another example says that they were available at Diarina, Allerton Road, Liverpool

I've just taken a quick look on the British Newspaper Archives and found some adverts from 1960 for various dress shops around the UK advertising Leshgold dresses. I can't enlarge the adverts because I haven't got an account but thanks for looking, I wouldn't have thought to check the newspaper archives!

Hi Fran this is a photo of my going away dress 1973. A Leshgold by Wanda, it originally had a white organza belt, I bought it in a small boutique in Salisbury.

Liz.
