Less than flattering 50\'s ....

I picked up this 1952 knitting pattern book recently.

I remember my sister wearing full skirts and some kind of a girdle cinch belt to make her waist smaller. I can see why with all these tuck-in sweaters. You had to have a tiny waist and it would still look big with these bulky skirts.

I like the big hips those skirts give me actually - adding 3 inches to my hips makes my waist look 3 inches smaller, even without any cinching :)
 
A hard look to wear and Not a look for the shortwaisted!

Even some of the models don't look all that great.

I actually love this look minus the crinolines. I have several full skirts and always wear the tops tucked in and usually add a belt. I bought a '50's black tone on tone cotton circle skirt recently and think I'll wear it with a long sleeved jersey and a wide belt.
