Let\'s Vogue!
Well, it's a grey, wet afternoon and so I thought I'd trawl through some of my 80's Vogue collection for a bit of a cheery-up.
These images really took my eye. Taken from British Vogue March 1986, I hope they brighten your day a little too. If you look closely, you'll see a very young Uma Thurman posing for Chanel. Hard to believe these photos were taken 24 years ago!!! Yikes! I think I'm warming to the eighties at last! I've written notes underneath.
1) Ungaro's Worldly Curvaceous Suit of Gleaming Violet. Silk & wool with nylon £600 and Knotted Turban £235
2) Jean Paul Gaultier's Frothing Peachy Pink Suit £725.
3) Hermes's Dandy Dimension (so on trend for 2010)! Cherry silk grosgrain riding habit. Curved, cropped, cuffed jacket, narrow draped skirt and ankle-length, wrapped, sashed with pleated cummerbund.
4) Jean Paul Gaultier's Long Little Black Suit tiered with skirt of shirt (shirt £145), gathered over long cotton skirt £160, under cotton jacket with patch pockets and narrowing sleeves £265.
1) Issey Miyake's narrowed lines. Split-tail skinny black coat (wool & rayon) £429; over sleeveless baby-blue jumpsuit £172.
2) Chanel's Shirt-Dress, very fitted to hips. Black velvet on white pique. Almost ankle-length.
3) Baroque Bolero by Montana. Scrolled black leather sleeves, curved from collar through shoulder down to incorporated gloves £1,000. Black thigh length acetate knit vest £170 and calf-length cycling pants £102.
4) Chanel Couture. Black wool crepe jacket with curved shoulder, narrow sleeve, nipped-in waist and sharpened peplum.
