LG steam washing machine...anyone have one?

Now that my bathroom is almost 98% completed, I want to re-do my mud/laundry room.

I currently have a washing machine that I think is from the 1970s. I'm not sure, it was here when I purchased my house 2 years ago. It's ugly, loud, not energy efficient, bounces around on the spin cycle and eats alot of delicate items. It's gotta go.

I really love the idea of the LG washing machine with the steam setting. And look how pretty they are!

I am such a sucker for gadgets like this, so instead of impulse buying it on the spot, I thought I would ask around if anyone here has one and how they would rate it.

The consumer reports I have seen on it all rate it decently but I still would like to hear what someone who owns one has to say.

Thanks!!

As long as you don't wear a polyester dress all day and then decide to 'refresh' it on steam before putting it on again over your slip so you can go out for dinner.... (I assume you have this ad in the U.S.?) I swear that has to be the worst ad out there -- it has put me off from wanting to think about buying one.

eek, I haven't seen that ad yet.

I promise I won't be sporting any polyester anytime soon, to breakfast, lunch or dinner.

cute machines..havent seen anyting like them this side of the briney!!

Sara, actually I got that pic off of a British chat board of some sort about the pros and cons of the machine so you guys must have them over there:headbang:

well as mine today decided not to discharge its water...and to boot its a bank holiday tomorrow, so expetc to be washing free for a few days...result!!! lo..next stop probably washing machine store ..unless the man can fix it

l thought it strange seeing a front loader in the usa...yours are usually huge machines and top loaders...better for the back though..

I saw the same commercial Jonathan saw and all I could picture was throwing my vintage lingerie in there to de-wrinkle it and steam clean those things I'm petrified of. Looks pretty nice!

I have a friend with an LG and she has had no complaints. I looked at them a couple of years ago and they just had way too many buttons and settings that I would never use. Also had a nifty little compartment where your rings and money end up if you accidentally wash them. You absolutely must use the HE type laundry detergent.

I LOVE the look of these!!!

ha! but dont all machines have too many settngs l use just 40 degress for most and then woollens for yes woollens!!

Your question made me think about that big, expensive bells & whistles Maytag 'laundry center' deal from a few years ago that I thought I just HAD to have... it had all these drawers and steam-closet-type things with 'refresh' cycles...

This one?

I thought someone here had gotten one, but maybe not. I read a few reviews about it - mixed. There must've been problems because Maytag is no longer making it. So, I'd be very interested to know about this LG one.

:horny: Go on Tiff, get it & tell us about it! :P

Carolyn, I remember that one--I wanted it too! I am a sucker for gadgets, gimmecks, packaging--all that.

I probably will get one in the fall or when I get my mud room re-done.

Tomorrow is COMPUTER buying day. Yayayayayayaaaya. I wish they made pretty PCs.

I have the Maytag "laundry center" & I love it. I also have the matching top load washer with no agitator.

I wear sweaters to work everyday, mostly cashmere, I just put them in the washer on the hand wash cycle and then into the laundry center....they're dry and ready to wear in in about three hours.

knocking on wood.......not one problem in over a year.

Both of these make cleaning vintage so much easier too....

I love the look of those LG washers....too cute!

Hi,
I have the LG washer and dryer with Steam setting. We just moved into our new house and finally had a laundry room large enough to buy them. They are fantastic and actually as easy as can be to operate. Love them to pieces...I bought them in 'Wild Cherry' (glossy bright red, just like the old cars). :-) Work like a dream and are quiet, fast and do a totally superior job to anything I have ever owned.
Can't recommend them highly enough.
Warmly,
PJ*

I want...but I have a really great front loader and can't see getting rid of it.
Of course it would be nice to have a machine I could use for vintage since I hand wash or dry clean almost all my stock.

ok, I did it. It will be delivered on Friday so I will make a report then :D

They aren't available here yet with the polka dot graphics . booo.

..just had my new, run of the mill machine installed, shall l brag l installed it myself..well why pay when its easy peasy...

when l saw the price of the LG machine, l saw a holiday, two new beds!! hd tv, handbags shoes, clothes, l couldnt jusify it, for a wallpapered pretty machine....hey ho,

l know l'm boring but that kinda money on a piece of concrete and metal no way jose!!

though its sooo pretty!!! have fun...

Well I don't have the LG with the steam setting, but I did recently get an LG washer and dryer. I was having problems with both appliances and planning to get them repaired when I got an email about an outlet store having a sale on scratch and dents (the night before my appointment was scheduled for the repair). It was too fabulous of a bargain to pass up. And I love them.

The washer I was replacing was a front load, but it's amazing how much they have improved in the 7-8 years since I bought it.
