Lilli Ann suit??? Please help.

This skirt suit has emboidery on the underside of collar, why is that? Dating and fabric help also, please.

I would expect that the collar is designed to be worn up, so that the embroidery is on display.

Gimajo, do you have any other photos of the jacket showing the style and the labels? That will aid with dating. There should be fabric labels too, if not inside, try down the side seams.

My thought was the same as Nicole's--the collar must have been meant to be worn standing up. Gorgeous embroidery!

What a gorgeous suit--love the color! Are there shoulder pads in it? And I can't see the label (the smaller one) well enough to read it--what does it say? It doesn't appear to match any of the 1980's labels we have in the label resource, but I'm getting an early/mid 80s feel on this. I had a Jones NY suit in around 1985 with a skirt almost exactly the same style and same shape of jacket. But the collar was nowhere near as stupendous! And I have another suit from about then that has a heavily embroidered collar.
