Lindo Couture

I've picked up a wonderful dress, but can't track down any information about the design house. It's a simple lined A-line short sleeved dress with a centre back zip, white with gold beading and detailing.

The label says "LINDO COUTURE" with Lindo in blocky gold letters with a crown above the I.

There is a second small label underneath that says "MADE IN HONGKONG" with "BRITISH CROWN COLONY" underneath it.

It was the last part that sparked my interest, and made me want to find out some more about it, but so far my internet searches have come up blank.

Any one have any ideas or could point me in a better direction to find out a little more?

Thanks,
Lexi.

Hi Lexi,

Many dressmakers use the word "couture" on their labels, and as their production was smaller than a fashion house, it's hard to track down details about them.

It sounds as if your dress is from the 1960s when a lot of beaded garments were made in Hong Kong. Are there any other labels that might help? Do you have a photo of the dress?
