Hello every1!

I have a cami-top or whatever the term is and I know this previous post touched on the subject of dating but opinion was split http://www.vintagefashionguild.org/forums/viewthread.php?tid=61685

With my cami-top it doesn't have a label but does have an embroidered number in red (sorry for the blurry pic) and has french seams etc. Any idea re date?

Also I have a nylon blue nightie. Am I correct in dating this as 1950s (after looking up my vintage books)? It's two layered and the lace is on the inside of the bodice. Small size, too small for my dress form.

Thankyou !!

Sarah

Ooh, dare I be the first to venture an opinion?!

The camisole looks 20s to me, especially if there's no bust darts or shaping, but the tabard-style openings at the bottom have thrown me a bit. I wonder if it had been cut shorter or altered in some way?

I'd agree that the nightie is 50s too.

Both very pretty! :)

Sarah, I agree with TinTruck - '20s for the camisole and '50s for the nightie (as you've said too).

Some items of lingerie can be tricky - I still think the one on the other thread is more modern but yours looks old to me.

Thankyou everyone! Good to know I'm correct about the nightie, I was erring to 1960s but then referrred to a book I have from the library that was recommended by VFG.

I'm over the moon about the cami. I know experienced VFG members deal with 1920s items every day but this cami makes this my oldest garment in my collection! Yipppeeeee!!!!

By the way, is the number on the cami just the garment number and would it have originally come with some knickers?

Thankyou

Sarah

ps if that nightie was my size I'd wear it to, that sure must make u feel like a woman wearing that!
