I was recently given a bag full of vintage clothing and found this lovely little hand made silk dress in it. Sadly it is damaged where the back of the neckline has parted company with the fabric and the edge of the torn silk seems quite fragile. The dress itself is in good condition & seems quite strong. It fastens with a press stud at each side of the neck so I suppose general wear and tear (& age) have taken their toll. I would think it was from around 1920s-30s?
Would anyone have any ideas of how I could repair it or indeed if that would be possible? I thought of trying to line the back of the bodice with similar fabric but not sure my sewing skills would be up to it!
Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.
