Long trench coat - is this vintage?

Hi again everyone,
I have another item I would like some information on (sorry for my ignorance!). It is a trench coat by Leon Cutler (about who I can not find any information), which I bought in Sydney. It is very long, about mid calf length, and has a lable at the nape of the neck 'London Mist by Leon Cutler' with LC in a shild shape, and a size lable which states 'Size 14 to fit Bust 36" / 91cm, Hip 40" / 101cm.
On the bottom left of the inside of the coat (left from the perspective of the wearer) there is another lable which says, "Crimpsheen, 100% texturised polyester, showerproof, hand wash, do not wring - drip dry, if pressing use low temperature, can be dry cleaned."
I don't think the coat is amazingly old, but the lables seem to have a bit of age - maybe 1970s? Would appreciate any help! By the way, this coat is fantastic in a shower - more waterproof than any coat I have ever owned. It makes me look forward to a rainy day! :)

Leon Cutler is a Melbourne label, they were based in Flinders Lane, and were quite prolific. I've seen many pieces with his assorted labels. They made clothes in the 60s-80s, perhaps the '50s too?

I would date your coat as early to mid '70s. Great colour.

Yes I agree 70s .... one clue to labels is there is care instructions on this but in the early 80s regulated labels went into effect. I forget the exact date '83 '84? ... but there were care "symbols" on labels. Then in the late 80s early 90s more required symbols went into effect.... so that helps sometimes with a part of the dating clues.

It's an Australian made garment and US labeling and manufacturing regulations are not universal to other countries.

Thank you Leigh - you're quite right.

Jennifer's post had me wondering how we tallied with that and I think it's roughly similar, you see the care symbols from the early to mid '80s too.
