Looking for men\'s tie resource, book.

I have a slew of ties, many from the 40's (I think) and I'd like to know anyone knows of a good resource for ties, either on line or in book format.

Thanks

Deborah

Hello Deborah :)

Good point! That's something I don't have, but I'm sure there must be a good one. I know there are a few websites of vintage tie collectors when I've been researching things in the past.

Chris might have a better idea, as she sells a lot of gentlemans vintage and it is more her thing than mine - I'll have a look though, and see if I can find anything.

Thanks, Harriet - and I'll keep googling, too!

PS - Four bids on the peachy dress already - Good for you!!!

I would very much also like to do more ties on my website and would like to have a resource to refer to........
I have alot of 60's-80's ties at the moment.....

This book is the ultimate resource on men's fashion. I;m saving my pennies :)

You might want to also check out the K.N.O.T

Other than that the best resource is usually collective knowledge. I would just ask here if you have a specific Q because there is a lot of knowledgeable folks out there. So I would just go ahead and go for it :)

There ARE a few tie books out there. I have not yet been able to review them all. I would caution you to ignore any "pricing guides" they are just not accurate at all.

I have not read these, but here are some titles that are easily gettable.

Popular and Collectible Neckties: 1955 To the Present
by Roseann Ettinger
and
20th Century Neckties: Pre-1955 - same author

The Ties That Blind: Neckties 1945-1975 -- by Michael J. Goldberg

I'll see what more i can dig up...

That should certainly get me started! Thanks, Chris. I'll try and take pics with ties lined up in a row later in the week.

PS: I, too, have been ogling Lizzie's book. And the penny race is on...

I am leaving out of town for a few days break and rest, so when I get back I will check the books out you listed Chris and take some pics of the ones I have......
