Lots of Questions: 40\'s Suits? Faux Fur Treatment?

Hello All!
I've been ill for over 2 weeks and am now trying to get back into the swing of things. I have lots of questions. First, I have two suits that I purchased from the same person. Both have tags that say "Custom Tailoring ONO Sendai". My first guess was that these were made in post-war Japan. Not sure really. (Click pics to enlarge)

Thanks in advance for all of your fabulous help!!

Nice looking suits!

They both look like well tailored mid 1950s suits and could well have been made in Japan or possibly Hong Kong? for a Western customer.

The coats and cape appear to be faux persian lamb.

I know someone who collects western fashion made in unusual places. He would be interested in these 50s suits when you list them so let me know! He has an interesting array of fashions from Cairo, Nairobi, Japan, Syria, Equador etc.

I had a Japanese suit once and it was also custom tailored. Yours don't look like they are too unusually shaped but I found my suit was very thick in the waist -- typical of the Japanese woman's figure which is less curvy than the European figure.

Hi! That top coat looks more like a wool boucle to me than a faux fur, at least from the pics....but the cape is definitely persian lamb in appearance. Its really not REAL? It truly appears as if it is! Ang

Hollis- Thanks for the date on the suits. I had it in my head that they were late 40's so that really helps. Persian lamb, of course, I just couldn't recall the what it was. Thanks!

Jonathon- I will let you know when I get them listed, thanks for offering to send a customer my way. Both suits seem to be fairly curvy with a nipped in waist. I bought about 10 pieces from the same estate. I believe the lady traveled quite a bit which would explain the suit being made in Japan or Hong Kong.

Ang- Wool boucle! I could not think of the term. Yes, I'm fairly certain the persian lamb is faux not real. I better double check just too be sure. Thanks!!

Very nice suits!

I agree with Ang on wool boucle for the coat. Can you look under the lining to see if the back of the
cape is sewn pelts?

Sue

Those suits are wonderful--the fabrics are so richly textured! (Makes me think of an angora/wool/silk bathrobe my husband brought me back from tokyo in the 80s, which my MIL declared was too fine to use over PJs and should be shortened to coat-length!)

I agree with Ang about the cape--it's a dead ringer for my black Persian lamb coat... If it's fairly heavy for a garment that size, you've got a definite clue...
