Lou-ette California 1950s dress?

This lace "mermaid" style dress is from Lou-ette California. No union label to help date. Back has a long metal zipper and bottom flair is supported by black netting. I could find very little in archive news and what's currently on line is dated for 1950s, but didn't see any "Lou-ette" labels in the listings to compare.

With such an extremely fitted style I'm guessing 1950s also. Would appreciate your opinions!
Thank you. Alice

It looks like the clothes influenced by My Fair Lady - 1956-57. The Ascot scene which they retained in the 1961 film and even used some of the same dresses from the play, brought in big hats, muffs, lots of lace, narrow hems, ribbons, bows, antique jewellery like cameos.... very feminine, Edwardian fashions.

Thanks, Jonathan. The more I learn about vintage fashion and the historic references the more fun it all is!
Oh to be able to wear these wonderful pieces... if only someone would come into my life and "remake" me...:drinking2:
