Louis Roth Tux - What to call treatment?

I found this pretty cool tux which I was dating as 1960s but now I am wondering a little. The union label is the one used from 1949-1962 (it doesnt have a circle R on it). I know these aren't hard set dates but I started to wonder if this was maybe more 1950s?

Also - what would you call the material used on the lapels, self-cummerbund and down the leg (all same)? Any thoughts? The suit itself is very lightweight and in mint condition - it has a linen feel to it but no labels to confirm actual material - could it be a summerweight wool? Pants have metal zipper. This one actually had its braces which is a first for me.

Okay - before anyone says anything - you will just have to forgive the 1970s pink tux shirt - I was feeling a little whimsical this evening :) I need to get a nice white one for final pics but for now, this just makes me giggle! And yes, that is my very feminine looking male manni/form.

Thanks all - I appreciate your thoughts! Hopefully you can see details in closeups - once again black on black and zero light right now :)

Hi,

I don't do a lot of menswear anymore...and this is not my area of expertise...but the only thing I can add is that the Roth label is the exact same as 2 jackets I have, both of which are definitely from circa mid to late 1950's.

Hard to see the fabric in the dark pix....it could well be a linen blend, or rayon woven to mimic linen. Or even a linen wool blend which was used for high end men's formal wear in the 50's.

The fancy weave looks like a waffle weave patterned satin brocade.

And I LOVE the pink shirt!

Thanks Barbara.

I have terrible time with black on black photos. I get terrible light here and when I try to use artifical light, pics end up with a weird "fake" look - for lack of better description.

Don't know if this helps but material looks like it would be silk but when you feel it, it is rather scratchy or rough.

Waffle weave - I think that might be a perfect description!!!!
