Lurex blouse - can I wash it or should it be dry-cleaned?

I found this lurex blouse in Haarlem, Holland, where I went to for some very sunny days, shopping and culture. This kind of green and that pattern simply told me "try me on" though the shop owner told me that it was rather big in size for me. Well, it's not so bad, nothing that I can't fix. I simply think it's fabulous! I think it's from the 1970s.

I talked to my mother about washing it. It has a care label that says it can be washed at 40 degrees Celsius. My mother, when I talked to her about it, immediately said "you need to have that dry-cleaned" - she says she once had made herself something out of a lurex fabric, and it didn't taking washing by hand well. What do you think? I have a good detergent for delicate fabrics, and I for myself would wash it by hand.

I'd have it dry cleaned and I wash most things by hand (even dry clean stuff!). If I remember correctly, last time I washed lurex the fabric got really weird and stiff.

Hope that helps!
