"Luxury" Exhibit at FIT!

I saw it when I was in the city a couple weeks ago. My faves were the Charles James 50's black tulle "swan" dress in the corner, and the Norman Norell 70's green wool coat with mink trim at the hem.

OH YES!!

It sort of remindes me of my gal's coat in my logo!

I loved most of the 20's stuff, especailly the shoes & beaded skull cap. The Worth dresses are jaw-dropping, of course.

The hand-made silk and tapestries were all impressive. Plus, the man's embroidered coat from the 1700's.

There are Poiret items in the exhibit, too.

I actually wasn't planning on going there today. I was just running around town and stumbled past the place & ran in to quiclky check it out, although I knew it was up.

I was hoping to get together with Justine & Jonathan this evening, but I had no time to fit it in. But, there should be brunch happening tomorrow with Jonathan. I'm assuming he's going to see this. I picked up some brochures for him anyway. :)

Hmmmm I haven't been to this exhibit yet but I did go to school at FIT for fashion photography for a time. Their exhibits are second to none!

To me the most exquisite piece was the yellow fading to orange Paul Poiret piece. Hahha - sometimes those 20s dresses remind of the kind of fabulous person I feel like I want to be! It took my breath away!

But, if we are going for something I'd get more wear out of it would definitely be the Norman Norell green velvet/mink combo. :love008: What I wouldn't give to own that!

I'll be back in the city in September (and possibly sooner) so I will have to check it out!
