Hello,
in 1988/89, I purchased a stunning, black, backless, long sleeve 100% Silk Chiffon, elegant short cocktail dress pulled by a Personal Shopper in the Fifth Avenue Club at Saks in New Orleans. It's simplicity and elegance were only rivaled by its impecable tailoring, such that it could literally be worn inside out. The price in 1988/89: about $2,000. I was young and not familiar with the Greek Designer, responsible for this "fashionable work of art," about whom everyone raved. The dress was carefully put away after a single wearing and dry cleaning, and only after it resurfaced from my closet years later did I discover the designer label in the dress was missing (apparently lost at the cleaners).
Certainly the dress's designer could have been Stavropoulos, but for some reason I thought it was a Female Greek designer. Can anyone offer the names of designers with Greek names during that period, whom I could possible contact to confirm the provenance of this fashionable "work of art." It deserves being publicly displayed. But without proper documentation, it will unfortunately remain hidden in my closet.
