Mad for Plaid

Checks, plaid, and tartan are classic patterns that bring a sense of timeless style to textiles. While often used interchangeably, they each have distinct characteristics. Checks refer to a pattern of squares formed by intersecting horizontal and vertical lines, such as gingham, dogtooth (or houndstooth), windowpane or buffalo check. Plaid is a broader term that encompasses a variety of patterns with crisscrossed stripes of varying widths and colors, for example the colorful Madras plaid.

Tartan is a type of plaid, with specific historical and cultural significance, particularly in Scotland, where it represents different clans or regions - with its unique color schemes and stripe arrangements, each pattern carries its own charm and heritage.

This week at the VFG, plaids are ticking all the right boxes, so check out our members selections below.
