Mannequin Question

White or flesh tone?

I am thinking of getting a new mannequin. Here's the gal I have now .... bought a few years back.

Not long after I took this photo I managed to run the lawn mower over the base!

Anyway - I like the headless mannequins and particularly this one... simple and straight forward... and short! and a 34" bust. I think this is the one Ang uses, but in white?

Any opinions?

I'm beginning to think the heads on the mannis are distracting. I usually crop mine out of the photos.

I emphatically agree with Carrie and I, too, always crop out the heads. When we were selling our last house, the real estate agent told us to strip the place of any personal photos, etc., as people like to superimpose themselves upon the house and imagine how they and their things would look in it. I am certain the same thing applies to vintage clothing and a headless mannequin allows the viewer to more readily visualize herself in the dress.

I found, too, that most items of vintage clothing look better on a white mannequin as the white seems to brighten and intensify the colors of the clothing, by virtue of the contrast.

That one is similar to mine, a little different pose. I went for white, headless.....I found fleshtone distracting and dated looking (stemming from working w/ mannequins in display for years....we had every color!!!) and heads can do the same thing (make up & hair can pre-determine the era that looks best on a manni).
