Many ???\'s and photos - vintage (20\'s-40\'s) slips

OK you lingerie experts.

First there’s this 20’s (?) slip that I am describing as silk crepe. Perhaps it’s just silk. It has the tiniest bit of texture. Oh dear, I am not good at this!

Here’s another pretty one (20’s) that definitely is silk. I snagged these words from someone else’s listing - :BAGUSE:is this a correct description on this lace? “ecru sheer net floral lace”

This is a drapey rayon longer slip, I’m thinking early 40’s. The only mark is the little thread ‘X’. Does that mean anything? It has non-adjustable straps and nicely finished seams.

Thanks - and happy Monday.

The first slip looks like rayon rather than silk. Does it have what looks like side splits?

The second slip is lovely and has what I would describe as an embroidered applique panel rather than lace.

A better close up of the straps on the third slip would help. Those panels and the length - is it calf length? - might shift the date. Where is the cross stitch located? Centre Back?

Hi Vertu ... Yes, that first slip has side splits (I call them "vents"?)

And thanks for your descriptive words. I agree with you!

Here is a closer picture of the straps of the third slip. Do you think I should take an even closer photo for the listing? They appear to be tulle.

This slip would be full-length on a 5' 2" person. I am 5' 9" and it is mid-calf on me. It is constructed of six panels, no darts and so there are six seams - one on each side and and two on the front and two on the back. Can you tell that sewing terms are not my strong point?:embaressed:
