Marc of California - 1950s Luau Dress

Hey Everyone,

I am still digging through this batch of 50s and 60s stuff. I left this estate sale with 2 huge leaf bags full of clothes I thought would end up, being mostly unusable and discovered a treasure trove of.. well treasures. A lot of cleaning and minor repairing but... all in all a good haul.

I cannot describe this dress. I do not know why the description is failing me, but... Its Rayon, that collar, it is like a backward shawl collar. The dress hangs pretty straight, it does not appear to be made for a belt... what is wrong with me? this one should be easy, but... I am just not finding the right words.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd call it a shift. And maybe "draped mock neck" for the neckline?
