Marcia Brady or Laurie Partridge?

Hey everyone... I have had this dress forever but it is finally ready to find a new home. I am having a very difficult time describing it for some reason. Would you be so kind as to help? It is definitely 70s, but would you call it preppy? The top is made of a blue faux poly knit vest over a think poly like white shirt with short puffy sleeves and the maxi skirt is a velvety soft, almost sheer nylon or acetate.

Other question is, someone along the way has put what appears to be hemming tap along the hem and it does not seem to negatively impact the wearabilty of the dress, and I am worried that removing it could in fact hurt this piece that is in such good shape. Any ideas on how to remove it without causing damage? Or should I just leave it?

Thanks,

*~Eli

I don't see preppy in your maxi dress. With the patchwork quilt style skirt I would go more toward prairie, hippie and/or boho for tag descriptions. Sometimes it's helpful to look at like items on eBay and Etsy to see what tags they're using. It's difficult to answer your question regarding the hemming tape without images.

Thank you ladies. I always search the net including etsy and ebay to get ideas, but sometimes I just hit a wall and need a little help. You guys always pull thru and I appreciate it

I'm a Barbie doll collector as well, and this dress reminds me of several of Barbie's outfits of the late 60s and early 70s, there were lots and lots of those long, puff-sleeved dresses for her. Collectors and books mostly refer to them as peasant or granny dresses.
