I posted this photo in another thread, but the thread was 5 years old so I don't know that it will be seen by anyone.
I am cleaning out my closet and had forgotten about this beautiful piece.
I can't seem to find much info about this designer nor find many photos of her other designs.
Does anyone have any information about Marion Maged or know where I can find more information about her or the value of this dress?
Thank you!

Some highlights from a 1978 article about Marion Maged:

-- She was born in Brussels and came to the US around the mid-1960's
-- On a trip to Egypt she became enchanted with the men's cotton robes, so she bought some and sold them to Bendel's
-- The expense involved in the orders for the Egyptian robes led to designing her own collection
-- Saks Fifth Avenue bought her collection and gave her window display space
-- In the beginning she did everything from home and the whole family helped
-- In order to reclaim her house and her life she hired a business manager and moved to 550 Seventh Ave in NYC
-- Two reasons for her "instant success" are her fabrics (pure silk and silk and wool cashmere blends) and her prices (dresses sold for $140 - $300)
-- Her clothes are "stylish, but not outlandish," have a one-season look, are easy to wear, and many have elasticized waists
-- One of her popular and "trickiest numbers" had a double skirt with an apron front that came off to become a shawl

Wow! Thank you so much!! I have literally spent hours scouring the internet and could find next to nothing about this designer or her designs!
Thank you for sharing that information!
How or where would one go in order to discover what the value of this dress may be?

Ellie, due to the many factors involved in the sale of an item, such as condition of the dress, popularity of a fashion or designer, etc., the VFG noted in #6 of the forum rules HERE, that we cannot give you a value for your dress. You should try searching for the sale prices of comparable items.

I apologize for any misunderstanding or for being unclear in the wording of my question.
I did read that thread prior to posting, and I certainly don't want to disrespect the rules of the site.
I was not asking if this site could appraise the dress; I was wondering if there is a trustworthy and knowledgeable business that you or other users are aware of that may be able to appraise an item such as this, so that I may contact them.
I can only find 4 or 5 of her dresses anywhere online, and none are anything like this one, so I'm unable to even find anything comparable.
Thank you! I appreciate you having taken your time to help me!

Lynne - that's funny that you found her mentioned in a book about smart people failing! There is the Museum of Failure in Sweden, which has a travelling show in Toronto right now - I want to go see it -- everything from the Edsel to lawn darts! I know there are some clothing items too -- interchangeable heel height shoes should be there!
