I have several purse and shoes sets that match.

Curiosity makes me wonder if this was mainly a 1960s fad or if other eras or time periods this was
very popular.

I remember the ladies used to have matching everything.
As a child I could not wait to grow up to do the same and now it is not done as much of course.

Hat, glove, shoes and dress outfit all matching. What fun.

Yes, me too - from the '30s to the '80s. Sadly you don't see it any more. I quite like a bit of matchy matchy and was dismayed when it started to go out in the late '80s. It's an easy way to look "put together".
 
Thank you both. I got curious and with the help of Pinterest made a matchy board.
I actually found some recent fashion lines with matching purses and shoes.
So hopefully it will get a revival.

I also found as you both say ones from 1930s till 80s or so.

Seems really big in the 1960s but 1940s also. I will keep adding as I love the look.

Funny how memories and fashion memories stick in your mind.
