hi.... me again...... in amongst the load of shoes that i got... i found these mens shoes.....

made by john white... made in england.....

apart from the stle no... it also has the following...
code...LAST NO167 and also IKIP V916

what date do you think ?

Well -- I'm hardly the shoe expert... but I'd hazard a guess of 60's on these. These are making me think of pickled winkers. Or is it winkle peckers. . What the heck is that term? ;)

Regardless... they're very pointy! Someone else should come along shortly and enlighten us.

Don't we have a fantastic workshop around here somewhere that discusses this era - and by the lovely EmmaPeelPants?
 
THey are early 60s, men's shoes took to the pointed toes after women's shoes became pointed in the late 50s. They are from that brief period between Teddy Boys and Beatlemania, c. 1962-63ish. Teddy boys wore brothel creepers, which were crepe soled monkstrap suede shoes and oxfords with thick soles. The winklepicker shoe is almost early MOD, sort of The Saint or early James Bond type of look, with striped jackets and flannels, or grey suits and skinny ties.

Heather - the young edwardian period (which maybe wasn't a period - but in my mind maybe) was sort of later 60s into the early 70s when watch pockets and vests started showing up again, i was off on this one by a couple years.
