Ok, not my specialty at all, I know very little about mens wear except what I like a man to wear *smile*
I picked this up when I was in Hollywood, it has the non-licensed Cardin label, beautifully constructed with light to medium shoulder shapers, it appears to be all wool in a densely woven weave a fitted cut with a single deep vent in the back. There is also a Made in France label... Also is the horse on the buttons a Pierre Cardin logo? Could this be 60s? It is so classic I am having a hard time!

Thanks!!

Michelle

I know absolutely nothing about Pierre Cardin labels, and not a lot about men's clothing.... But, as a child of the peace & love hippie movement, I do believe that this is an "authentic" Nehru jacket, which would put the timeframe as late 60s to very early 70s (possibly '68 or '69 to '71).

I agree with Anne....and am totally loving this jacket!!

Late 60s around the time the Beatles were doing the whole India/Nehru
thing - popular then and still popular.

Michelle, is this small enough for a gal to wear too?

Sue

Absolutely Sue, it is quite small. Would most likely fit more women then men. I am thinking maybe double listing it? I am just out of my element here!
So we have two votes for late 60s!

Thanks so much ladies!

Michelle

Michelle, I would definitely double list this. If I was smaller I would be all
over it.

Wow - that's a real Beauty, Michelle!

Gosh i missed this/ This is great Michelle!

I am assuming this is on a female dress form. (i could be wrong but it looks it from the nipped in waist) unless its just a really small men's form. I probably would try and pad the middle out a bit. When flying by the gallery pics, men really want to see a more masculine silhouette on a jacket. (just like a woman might mistake something for a too boxey of a cut for them if a curvy jacket that is also sized for the more voluptuous lady is displayed on a tiny form) Obviously you will have cropped jackets that will be very upside down triangular shaped. and athletic cut items may be a bit of an exception to the rule with the tapered waist.

Most of the items I have seen from the 60s are the Creation Pierre Cardin label, but you would know more than I. I think Nehru jackets were no earlier than the late 60s and they went into the 70s and agree with Anne's dates unless Cardin was on the cutting edge with this idea, which i think was rather something that went from the bottom up and came from the interest in ethnic fashions and the designers interpreting it versus vice versa.
