Men's Hunting pants? Jodhpurs? Era?

Here in Vermont, the second I see any plaid wool hunting pants I assume they are from our local "Johnsons Woolen Mills." These are quite old and are from Boston. Big buttons only, no zipper and short legs, shaped like a jodhpur with extra reinforcement on the inside knees, which is why I wondered if they were for winter riding, not winter hunting. (LOVE the green.)

The bottom of the legs, on the calves, close with a little string tie. And would these appeal to any particular group?

Love the colour! I think the group they appeal to will be determined mostly by the size of the cuffs. But generally I see country chap, and golf pants!

Not riding, at least I have never, ever seen plaid jodhpurs for riding. Maybe hiking or hunting? General outdoor winter sports?

I love them. I think if they were golf pants they would be looser at the bottom of the legs. I agree with hunting pants, lumberjack, and/or logging pants.
