Men\'s Morning Coat???
Okay, so here's the scoop on what I think is called a morning coat (actually suit): this and several other suits were given to me, indirectly, by the nephew of a Canadian diplomat. Apparently, it was bought to visit the Queen in the 60's. They assume it was bought new, but I think it's older. My friend is going to try and find out, but thinks the nephew may be reluctant to ask the uncle - so I may never know.
Since I know nada, nygt about this, I'm hoping you will.
Coat made by Kennedy's (try that on a search engine!!!) has unisex buttoning. It is 100% black wool, and save for a button missing and a bit of mending on the inside it's in excellent condition. The pants that appear to be a perfect match material wise have the satin stripes running down and the satin is very worn at the pockets. It has two back pockets - one buttoned. Four buttoned fly (3 are hidden) and 6 suspender buttons. They are unlined (ew) have a cloth tag on the inside that reads either Perry & Co. Philadephia or it may be Ferry & Co (the first letter is almost impossible to made out).
Sorry, for the lousy pics.
Thanks!
Deborah
