Hello everyone,
I was thinking these were an 80s shoe, but am wondering if they could be earlier.

also, is there a name for this sort of raised, jigsaw-y relief leather style?

I can only just make out something like "From (?) Glad Ware (?) on the insole.

Thanks for any help.
Lauren

You are TOTALLY speaking my language. I would have killed for a pair of these in my size in 1980-82. I think these are the real 60s winklepickers that the 80s New Wavers copied - the workmanship is too good on them for the 80s and in the 80s the heels were VERY low and that is almost a Cuban heel, which is typical of mid 60s. Also the toe is too domed for the 80s, the 80s toe was a flatter and pointier. I can't read the stamped label so I can't help with the maker name. THe fancy leather is simply called 'boarded' leather in the shoe industry - it means it has been stamped with a pattern and treated in some way to look like something other than leather.

Depending on the country's trademark program, you can usually search for a trademarked name by image as well as category (select 25 for footwear) I see a name that might be (Bel?)voire Glad Wares over a globe logo. If you can get a couple more shots of the ghost mark it might confirm.

Thanks for your help everyone.....On closer inspection it looks more like "Mondial (e?) Cladi Verase" and 'Made in Italy"....I'll check the trademark name. Melanie, I'm pretty sure it is a Globe.
