Men's Vintage Suits in Syracuse, NY

I recently came into about 15 suits, several jackets, and about a dozen slacks as well as other articles of clothing that were my grandfather's. Both grandparents have passed on and i am left to sort through their posessions. I am in need of help appraising and/or selling these articles of clothing from someone in the upstate New York area. Many of the suits have labels but some do not. I'm having quite a time of it! I have already consulted the resources on here and only one or two of the labels i have are even listed in the resource guide.
If anyone can help point me in the right direction i'd be much obliged. Included are a few pictures of several of the suits.
Thanks!
Mama G.

thanks all.
yeah. i knew they were from the 70's. but i'm just having a hard time figuring out where and how much to sell them for. i have looked all over etsy and ebay and they range all over.
i also just unearthed a whole mess of slacks....half of which are "levi's panatela" branded.
i really want to try to sell these suits, jackets and slacks in a few "bundles" but wanna get the best deal i can without over charging. if i can't find someone to take them all then i may have to open my own etsy or ebay shop but trying to avoid doing that for many reasons....one of which being time.
anyone know who i can talk to in the upstate new york/syracuse/rochester/albany/ithaca area? syracuse is severely lacking in the vintage fashion area.

Hello,

Thank you so much for sharing with us. I sell a lot of men's suits and, although we don't provide valuations here, I can give you some insight into what sells and what doesn't as far as 1970s suits. First, I have done very well with some 70s suits but they have to be special to bring in top dollar. Special means crazy patterns or crazy features such as huge bell bottoms, belted backs, super wide lapels, or something else that just totally sets the suit apart. Three piece suits are always better than two piece suits and bright colors are always better than drab colors. Polyester isn't always the kiss of death but if the suit doesn't have any other outstanding feature and is just a plain polyester suit, it probably won't go very far. Size can also be a factor - if the suit is very small or very large, it can cause it to sit for a long time for a seller so it can have a negative impact on value. Denim suits are cool but aren't actually very rare so again, if the suit has some sort of interesting feature like the ones I mentioned above, that will help the suit increase in value.

This was just sort of a short synopsis but I hope it helps. You can kind of compare your suits and other items to what I mention above and also the Ebay sold items and maybe get an idea of what to ask for them. You might have to shop them around a bit but I wish you good luck in finding a buyer. You might also consider contacting costume rental places as they might be in the market for suits such as yours - you never know - might be worth a try.

Thanks again for sharing - best of luck!
